Fabrizia Pons will be my co-driver

I am glad to announce Fabrizia Pons as my new co-driver. Every proper rally freak still knows Fabrizia: it was her who achieved outstanding results between 1981 and 1985 as co-driver of Michèle Mouton in the World Rally Championship. They won four WRC rounds, finishing vice-champions in 1982.

After a break in the late eighties, Fabrizia re-entered rallying in the nineties. Together with Ari Vatanen at Ford and thereafter with Piero Liatti at Subaru, she achieved many more stunning successes, one of her finest results being the victory alongside her fellow Italian countryman in the 1997 Monte Carlo Rally.

Many of you might not have been aware of the fact that Fabrizia has also sat on the driver's seat, being successful in this role as well: apart from Jean-Claude Lefebvre who is today's press officer of the Peugeot works outfit in the  World Rally Championship, she is the only person who ever scored points as both driver and  co-driver in the World Rally Championship since its inception in 1973.

And there is another detail you should know  about Fabrizia: she has contested cross-country rallies, too. Partnering Ari Vatanen, she started in the 1995 Tunisia, Morocco and Portugal rallies, taking outright victories in the two latter events.

I am eagerly looking forward to working with Fabrizia.
