Motorsport

Since 1987, I am involved in motor sport. It was in that year that I contested my first desert rally, the Pharaoh's Rally in Egypt. 

Initially, I used a motorbike in my career. In the 1990s, I swapped to four wheels, driving buggies and other types of cross-country rally cars.

Since 1996, I have always been part of one of the four "big" teams in this sport. At the beginning, I drove for the Schlesser team. Later, I swapped to Mitsubishi. I won the 2001 Dakar Rally with the Japanese manufacturer. In 2002, I signed a contract with Volkswagen who tried to win the Dakar Rally with a diesel-powered car. In 2006, I joined Sven Quandt's X-raid team for twelve month.
